Following the lowering of annual income of individual borrowers eligible for unsecured credit to $20,000 per annum as announced by MAS in February 2009, ABS has drawn up industry guidelines for retail banks that are interested to develop this new market segment. These Guidelines are issued as a new Sub-Code under the Code of Consumer Banking Practice.These Guidelines aim to ensure a more consistent regime in the granting of unsecured credit by retail banks.
